   Good quality and value, returned for sad reason

   The leash worked smoothly and locked securely. I had to return it because my pup passed away a month after buying it — otherwise I would have kept or gifted it.

   Sturdy, great for darting pups

   Good build quality and works well for puppies that like to bolt forward. One caveat: sand can get into the mechanism and cause sticking, so avoid beach use. Elsewhere it functions reliably and I’d buy it again.

   Best retractable I’ve owned

   Very easy to use: stop or release the tape instantly and it runs smoothly in and out. Solid construction. I appreciated the extra extender piece for chewers — saved me from replacing the whole unit.

   Great for long daily walks

   I walk my short-haired pointer 2+ miles every morning. The 16 ft length lets her explore while I keep pace. It’s a bit heavier than some others but felt very solid and lasted around two years. The thumb release works well; I’d consider buying again.

   Durable — lasted years with a puller

   This leash survived about 4½ years with a reactive dog who pulls a lot. The retracting mechanism finally broke today, but I got my money’s worth and am buying another.

   Well-made and reliable

   Works well so far. Some mention it’s a bit heavy, but the weight feels right to me. The build quality is satisfying and I’m pleased with it.

   Well designed but didn’t last as long as hoped

   We used this with a 65 lb dog and really liked the design and function at first. After about nine months the ratchet started catching and making noise. We reordered because it performs well otherwise, but wished it had lasted longer.

   Good control for a small puppy

   Bought this for a 15–20 lb puppy and it was just right. Comfortable handle, reliable retraction, and the lock held position. Note: grabbing the moving tape once caused a light cut to my fingers, so use caution. Would’ve liked a poop-bag attachment, but otherwise I’d recommend it.

   Trusted, comfortable — bought a second one

   I bought this same model twice. With my 40 lb mixed dog it held up well for about a year of regular walks. The retraction started to weaken after 12 months, similar to the first unit, but the grip stayed comfortable even on long outings. My dog sometimes carries the end in her mouth and there’s no fraying, though she doesn’t actually chew it. She still pulls occasionally when loose-leash roaming, which we’re training out.

    Solid upgrade from a smaller model

    I used a different compact brand for two years and was happy, but the casing was too tight with winter gloves and the thin cord sometimes tangled around other dogs’ legs. I moved to this larger model with a thicker cord. Unboxing felt premium: the case is true black and solid, there was an extra carabiner included, and the cord and lock mechanism seemed well made and easy to operate.

    Very weak retraction

    Not recommended — even with my small dog the tape didn’t retract on its own.

    Flexible, tangle-free — ideal for a pup

    We wanted a retractable that gives our young puppy freedom to roam. The 5 m (16 ft) length is perfect and it truly doesn’t tangle like other models. Only drawback: no longer length options like 8 or 10 m.
