Product description
This camera cage kit is delivered as a full rig: an aluminum alloy frame, a pair of 25cm 15mm rod rails, a matte box with flags, a follow focus and a top hand grip. It’s designed to convert compact mirrorless and small camcorders into a more ergonomic video platform and to allow accessory mounting for lights, microphones and monitors.
The cage body is machined from aluminum alloy and features 1/4" and 3/8" threaded holes across the top and sides for attaching a variety of accessories. Two hotshoe mounts are built in for quick placement of lights or wireless receivers. An anti-slip rubber plate with a 1/4" fixing screw protects the camera base and helps prevent shifting. The unit accepts standard 15mm diameter rail rods and includes a three-point fixation arrangement so you can add an extra rod for supporting long zoom lenses.
Included follow focus lets you perform manual focus pulls more easily and the kit includes a toothed focus ring belt intended for lenses under 100mm diameter. The matte box has a top flag and two side flags to reduce lens flare and adjust incoming light; it is intended mainly for sun control rather than for square filter trays, though front-mounted screw-on filters and screw-in NDs can still be used on the lens.

Issues with focus belt but otherwise okay
Overall I was pleased with the look and build. The camera locking nut didn’t clamp as tightly as I wanted, though the cage lets you add extra anchors. The supplied focus belt wasn’t suitable and skipped teeth, making the focus unusable until I replaced it with a spare Zhiyun belt — afterwards it worked very smoothly.

Follow focus needs redesign for some lenses
The follow focus doesn’t mesh cleanly with some lens gears and feels stiff. I had to graft parts from another unit to get it to track properly. The aluminum frame is well made, but the matte box parts are plastic though functional.

Solid budget rig for my GH4
Bought this kit to turn my Panasonic GH4 into a better handheld rig. Everything fits the GH4 securely, the aluminum frame feels tough and there’s a lot of mounting real estate. The 15mm rods accept the matte box and follow focus smoothly; the follow focus is serviceable for most pulls and the top handle really helps for handheld runs. Overall good value and still holding up after regular use.

Very robust for the price
Excellent value for what’s included. The matte box is mainly for sun control and won’t take square filters, but screw-on NDs still work on the lens. Fits Sony well but also works with other brands; note battery access can require loosening the cage screws. Gives a very professional look.

Poor purchase — compatibility problems
Not compatible with the cameras they list; I had to modify it so my camera would sit properly and you need to disassemble to swap the battery. I didn’t return it due to refund complications. I do not recommend it.
