VZ 320 J-Frame Grips — Hyena Brown G10 Panels
Product description
What you get: a pair of Hyena Brown 320 grip panels sized for J‑frame revolvers and a stainless steel Torx‑15 screw for mounting.
Materials and finish: the panels are crafted from layered G10 laminate, showcasing vivid stacked colors in the cut edges. The machining leaves very fine mill marks that are not polished away, giving the surface a whisper of texture rather than a heavy bite.
Fit and use: the 320 is meant to be a low‑profile upgrade for concealed carry. Its subtle texture minimizes snags on clothing while still aiding purchase under recoil. Some hand fitting — light sanding or rounding of edges — can be performed if a shooter prefers a slightly different contour.
Manufacturing: produced in the United States on American equipment by VZ, a company known for making precision grips since 2003. The panels are made to tight tolerances to match common J‑frame dimensions, though older revolvers with larger manufacturing variances may need extra fitting.
Pros
- Low‑profile, comfortable hold
- Attractive, vivid laminate layers
- Includes stainless Torx‑15 mounting screw
Cons
- Can feel slick until broken in or treated
- May require light fitting on some revolvers
- Edges may be sharper straight from the factory
VerdictThese VZ 320 panels deliver a slim, comfortable hold with just enough surface bite for control while remaining gentle on clothing during concealed carry. They highlight the laminate colors and arrive with a stainless T‑15 fastener. Minor fitting may be needed on some older J‑frames, but for most users who want a sleek, durable upgrade, the 320 is an excellent choice.

Top quality G10 panels
VZ delivers again—great materials, tight engineering, and excellent fit. I picked a less common color on sale and got a bargain. The finish and look are first‑rate.

Great fit and thin profile
Bought two sets and installed them on a 340PD and a 43C. Both fit the frames precisely after seating the top first and engaging the butt pins. The material texture still gives good purchase despite being smooth and the panels feel thinner than the factory rubber grips. Very satisfied and will likely add more to my collection.

Edges and grip could be better
These had some rough edges and the surface felt slick for the finish I expected. Not the best match for my needs.

Did not fit my older Model 60
Well made, but these did not sit right on my 40‑year‑old Model 60 round butt. There were gaps up front and they didn't cover the backstrap fully. They may fit newer S&Ws better. Also packaging arrived crushed though the grips were unharmed.

Slippery at first, fixed quickly
Initially the grips felt dry and slick so I almost returned them. After wiping a light coat of Ballistol over the surfaces the grip improved immediately. Now they hold well and look great.

One good purchase
They don't catch clothing and they lock into the hand under full .38 recoil. I have them on a 442 carried in a pocket holster and they ride well in deep pockets. I eased a few edges with 400 grit sandpaper for comfort, but VZ machining is excellent compared with other makers.

Prefer G10 for carry
I keep wood and horn on many pistols, but for carry I favor G10. VZ panels require little fitting and are easy to touch up with emery cloth and oil. The 320s are smooth enough to avoid snags yet provide enough texture to hold the gun securely. No regrets.

Quick swap, mostly perfect
Replaced stock grips in a couple minutes and fit was nearly perfect. Only issue was near the hammer where the panels don't pull tight to the center shank. A bit slippery, which is actually helpful for concealed carry since clothing won't snag.
