Tru-Tension Tyre Monkey — Compact Bicycle Tire Lever
Product description
NEW DESIGN — The Tyre Monkey is a redesigned bicycle tyre lever created to simplify both removing and refitting tyres. It is intended to be faster and less frustrating than conventional levers.
INNOVATIVE GEOMETRY — Unlike standard flat levers, this tool's shape holds your hand at roughly a right angle to the wheel, reducing the chance of hitting spokes while delivering effective leverage. The patent-pending form aims to let a single tool do the job that sometimes needs several traditional levers.
COMPACT & INCLUDED — Each purchase contains one Tyre Monkey tool. The piece is compact enough to live in a saddle bag, jersey pocket, or tool roll without adding bulk, and replaces carrying multiple levers.
MATERIALS & BUILD — Designed and developed in the UK, the tyre lever is moulded from a lightweight, high-strength composite intended to resist wear while remaining easy to handle. It is built to withstand routine roadside and workshop use.
HOW IT'S USED — One end hooks and lifts the tyre bead while the opposite profile assists refitting; its contour provides leverage without excessive force. Suitable for most bicycle tyres, it is especially useful when reinstalling stubborn beads or managing folded new tyres that resist seating.
Pros
- Single tool replaces multiple levers
- Keeps hand clear of spokes
- Lightweight, pocket-sized design
Cons
- Thicker profile can be hard to slip under some beads
- May abrade rim tape or decals if used across the rim
- Not as wide a lip as some traditional levers
VerdictA cleverly shaped, durable tyre lever that makes roadside and workshop tyre work faster and less fiddly. Its 90-degree hand orientation reduces the risk of scraping knuckles on spokes, and its compact footprint fits a saddle bag or jersey pocket. Best for riders who want one reliable tool for removing and reinstalling tyres with minimal struggle.

A tool that actually works
I struggled getting my 700x40 tubeless off the rim at first — likely my technique — but putting it back on was absurdly simple. Reinstalling the tyre was the easiest I've ever done. I've recommended it to my cycling mates.

Did the trick
Worked like a charm on my Hetre tyres!

So easy my son chose it
I was impressed with how straightforward it is. I showed my son both methods, and he immediately picked the Tyre Monkey as the easier option.

Where was this my whole life?
Mounting new tyres used to feel like a chore. Tasks that once took over an hour and left my hands sore now take about 30 minutes for both tyres. Wish I'd known about this sooner.

Good concept but some downsides
Smart idea, but an underside extension can scrape or shred tubeless rim tape and it can wear rim decals when slid across the rim. The tool is quite thick and needs care getting under the bead. My setup was a 27.5 Stan's tubeless rim with a Maxxis DHR2.

Best lever I've used
By far the best tyre lever I own. I can fit two GP5000s on Zipp 404 Firecrest wheels in about five minutes — used to take me ages and a lot of swearing. Top purchase for my bike kit.

A great little tool
My rear tyre punctures a lot and repairs are now so much simpler. This tool makes the job easy — I strongly recommend it to cyclists.

The lever you hope to have on long rides
Flats hit at the worst times, and this little tool shines then. It's compact and solid, giving true leverage without feeling bulky. It made stubborn tyres much easier to handle, even when my hands were cold. I've used it on road and mixed-surface tyres with no rim damage. Keeps a saddle bag ready for emergencies and handles unexpected roadside repairs with no flex or fuss. A smart, reliable addition for long-distance riders.

Gets the job done quick
I had lost my old levers and almost didn't pull the trigger, but glad I did. Much faster and easier than other levers I've used. One end removes safely, the other helps reseat the bead — a big help with new folded tyres. There's also a small Presta valve tool built in. After watching a how-to clip, I removed and refitted a tyre in around two minutes.

Frustrating at first
The lifting lip felt too short to get under some tyres and the handle was a bit too stubby for leverage, so it jammed on me. After an edit: the trouble was an old stiff tyre — a new tyre went on easily. Still could use a longer lip, but the idea works.

Solid, practical and ergonomic
The Tyre Monkey is a handy, well-built tyre lever for anyone who swaps tyres regularly. Made from durable, lightweight plastic, it feels robust yet light. The ergonomic shape helps with handling and repeated use; overall a useful workshop and roadside accessory.
