Modeling Contour Putty — 5/8 oz Tube for Plastic Kits
Product description
Includes a single 5/8-ounce tube of contour modeling putty intended for plastic model assembly and light repairs.
The compound is a synthetic putty formulated to fill seams, gaps, and low spots on kits and small plastic parts. Apply directly from the tube into joints or damaged areas, let the material set, then sculpt the final contour with a hobby knife or other shaping tool.
After it has cured, refine the surface with progressively finer sandpaper until smooth. The putty sands well and takes paint, making it useful for customizing models, touching up frames, or small household fixes.
Pros
- Easy to shape and sand
- Accepts paint without excessive absorption
- Good adhesion to plastic surfaces
Cons
- Can be runny straight from the tube
- Avoid applying very thick layers
- Occasional air bubbles reported
VerdictA reliable, easy-to-shape filler for model builders and repair work. It dispenses smoothly once given a moment to thicken, bonds to plastic, sands to a clean finish, and accepts paint. Ideal for seam filling and small repairs, though users should avoid over-applying in thick layers and watch for occasional air bubbles.

Used it for decades
I've relied on this putty for over 40 years. It consistently performs for custom model work.

Some bubbling problems
Experienced air bubbles that required reapplying in a few spots. Could have been my technique or a bad tube. The brand has a good reputation, so I'll give it another try.

Solid contour compound
A well-made modeling putty that does what it's supposed to. Easy to work with — just don't apply layers too thickly. Overall, a nice product for shaping and finishing.

Good alternative to automotive fillers
Feels denser once dry than many car fillers and sands smoothly. It was ready to sand in roughly 30 minutes and works well for kit customizations.

Handy for models and small repairs
Familiar product that I bought again because I've used it in the past. I used it on a cracked plastic mirror frame and on a chipped wooden frame — it sands cleanly and holds paint well. I didn't find any downsides.

Rescued statues and models
This has fixed broken statues and filled gaps in miniatures. It sands to a smooth finish and takes paint evenly without soaking it up and causing blotches.

Fills seams well when prepped
Works nicely to close gaps on assembled models and sands down without fuss. It can come out a bit runny, so I let it sit for a short time to thicken before packing it into joints — then it becomes much easier to shape.

Versatile for display bases
I use the white putty to sculpt terrain for display bases and on larger models for clients. Others may scoff, but it's a flexible tool on my shelf that I regularly reach for.
