Micro Gainz 1.25 lb Fractional Dumbbell Plates — 4-Pack
Product description
What you get: a set of four Micro Gainz micro plates, each weighing 1.25 lb, intended to be paired on dumbbells or used singly to produce 1.25 lb or 2.5 lb increments.
Materials and finish: the plates are made from sintered steel and finished with a tough powder coat to resist wear during regular use. Internal components include the spring/clip mechanism that secures each plate to a handle.
Calibration and sizing: each plate is manufactured to a tight weight tolerance (approximately +/-10 grams), enabling predictable, small-step progression for strength work. Their slim form factor keeps added width low so they won’t excessively widen the handle assembly.
Compatibility and use: designed to clip onto many dumbbells, kettlebells and standard barbell handles. They’re intended to close the gap between standard weight increments and to be easily added or removed between sets. Note that performance depends on handle shape — thicker, indented or lip-equipped grips tend to hold them best while very straight, smooth bars can allow slight sliding.
Made in the USA: produced domestically with an emphasis on durability and repeatable, incremental loading for steady strength progression.
Pros
- Enables fine, incremental weight increases
- Durable sintered-steel construction with powder coat
- Works with many dumbbells, kettlebells and bars
Cons
- Fit varies by handle shape; may shift on slim straight bars
- Small chips in finish can appear with heavy use
- Initial investment may give buyers pause
VerdictThese four 1.25 lb fractional plates are a practical solution for lifters who need finer progression than typical 5 lb jumps. Constructed from sintered steel with a protective powder coating and manufactured in the U.S., they clip onto a variety of dumbbell and bar handles and offer +/-10 g tolerance for reliable micro-loading. Fit depends on handle geometry — they work excellently on many hex and

Attractive finish
I love the look and the glossy paint. They’re not cheap, but they’re a classy addition to my rack.

Three out of four function
Three of the four operate exactly as intended. One sticks and won’t lock reliably without extra attention. Would I buy them again? Yes.

Sturdy and easy to use
I use these a lot. They slide on and off my bars smoothly — a big improvement over magnetic add-ons on rubber handles. I've dropped them and they show no damage. Would buy again.

Fits many handle styles
A game changer. I worried about compatibility but they fit every free-weight handle I own. They’re simple to use and worth the investment. Buy a set of four if you mix weights often.

Works as described
They attach cleanly to my hex dumbbells and bridge the 5 lb gap nicely. I can even mount them on the plate holder of my leg-extension attachment.

Great for incremental gains
These plates are fantastic for small increases on bench and other lifts. I added all four to a 40 lb dumbbell to get to 45 and could still grip it comfortably. They hold tight during sets.

Solid, useful accessory
I waited a long time before buying and tried them a few times — they’ve already proven worth it. My gym’s 5 lb steps were limiting; these create smoother progression and clip on securely. Consider handle shape since a lip helps keep them in place.

Handy for small jumps
After a week of use they’ve been very helpful for small progressions. They can slip on straight handles but cling well to thicker grips. A tiny chip of paint appeared, but so far they perform as needed.

Good concept, decent build
Costly but a solid idea and a functional product.

Perfect for small increments
Each plate is 1.25 lb so a matched pair gives 2.5 lb — great for shoulders and triceps when a 5 lb jump is too much. They’re compact and don’t overhang most dumbbell heads, so they stay more centered than larger plates. On bars with narrow indents they can move slightly; I fixed that by adding a neoprene sleeve over the handle which also helped prevent calluses. They do reduce usable handle width, which could be awkward for very large hands, but they worked well for me.

Favorite gym tool
I love these — they make it easier to progress when a 2 kg jump is too big. Robust and simple to clip on.
