Euro Notions 1704 Buttonhole Cutter Set with Round Cutter
Product description
This kit contains multiple cutting heads for straight and keyhole buttonholes plus a circular cutter that can be used for punched eyelet work. The cutters are metal blades made to give crisp, clean edges when used with a backing block. A small wooden striking block is included to support the fabric while cutting.
Designed for home sewing and small tailoring tasks, the straight and keyhole blades make precise slits for buttonholes while the round cutter is useful for English eyelets and similar circular openings. The set ships in a compact package with external dimensions of 4.3 inches (H) x 8.8 inches (L) x 6.4 inches (W).
To use, position the fabric over the wooden block, align the cutter with your marking or gauge, then tap the cutter through the fabric with a mallet. For best results and to avoid damaging the included block, place the block on a solid surface or substitute a heavier wood base when applying stronger strikes.
Pros
- Sharp blades give clean, professional cuts
- Includes straight, keyhole and circular cutters
- Compact kit suitable for home sewing
Cons
- Supplied wooden block is fragile
- Requires a firm surface or heavier base for best results
- Not suited for heavy industrial use
VerdictA practical toolset for sewing projects that need clean, professional buttonhole openings. The steel cutters produce precise cuts for straight and keyhole styles, and the round cutter doubles for eyelet embroidery. The cutting heads come ready to use, but the supplied wooden base is lightweight and can split if struck too forcefully—use a sturdier block for heavy tapping. Overall a cost-effective

Cutter is great, block is weak
The blade performance was excellent, but the included wooden block broke on the first tap. The cutter itself is worth it—just use a sturdier piece of wood.

Makes buttonholes simple
I used to avoid garments with many buttonholes. Paired with an adjustable gauge, this cutter lets me follow pattern markings confidently. The blade is forgiving—not razor-thin—so you can apply controlled force without risking accidental overcuts. It speeds up the process and I enjoy the results.

Sharp and ready to use
Exactly as advertised—the blade arrived sharp and required no honing, and it performs reliably.

Very sharp, watch the wood
The cutters are indeed sharp, and the small wooden block can crack if you use heavy blows, but otherwise the set works perfectly.

Cuts well but mind the block
Blades slice cleanly. I struck the tiny wooden base too hard and it split in two.
