Brabantia Lift-O-Matic 4-Arm Adjustable Outdoor Clothesline (164 ft)
Product description
Generous drying capacity: This rotary clothesline provides 164 feet of hanging space across four arms mounted on a sturdy aluminium frame, enough to air-dry roughly four standard loads outside. The unit’s lines have a non-slip profile and UV-resistant coating to protect both the cord and your clothing; the arms also include integrated holes for hangers and delicate items.
Height and dimensions: The Lift‑O‑Matic mechanism lets you set the working height between approximately 4.23 and 6.14 feet so you can tension and reach lines comfortably. In use the footprint measures about 9.7" x 9.7" with a height up to roughly 6.13 ft. When folded away its packed size is roughly 4.3" x 4.3" x 79" and it has a hanging hook at the top for compact winter storage.
Ground fixing and load: A metal ground spike (approx. 1.8" diameter) is supplied to secure the pole into turf; the spike includes a closable cap at ground level so it does not become a trip hazard when the line is removed. The dryer will accept up to around 88 pounds of evenly spread laundry across the lines.
Protection and extras: A tailored zip-up cover is included to shield the folded arms and lines from the elements when not in use. The set ships with the clothesline assembly, the ground spike and its cover. The design is built for weather exposure, and Brabantia backs the product with a five-year guarantee. Part of the purchase supports WeForest tree-planting initiatives.
Usage notes: The pole is intended to be driven well into turf for stability; hard or rocky soil may require extra effort or temporary softening of the ground. The foldable arms and integrated hanger loops make it versatile for a variety of items, and the top hook lets you hang the closed unit for storage.

Well-built but staking it takes muscle
A quality clothesline that’s solid when installed. Assembling the stake and holder was straightforward; we used a board and rubber mallet to protect the metal while hammering it in. Rain helped soften the ground, but it still needs effort and some care to keep it straight.

Long-lasting — still going strong after years
Bought in 2018 and it’s still in great shape despite a period of non-use while moving. No rust, works smoothly, easy to remove for mowing and simple to adjust for different drying needs. Highly recommend for durability.

Roomy square design but needs careful installation
Folds out to plenty of space and the square layout is handy so you don’t need a long yard. You must drive the pole deep and avoid bending the top pipe. It won’t rust and comes with a cover and a red rubber cap for the exposed pole.

Very sturdy, even fully loaded it feels rock-solid. The height adjustment is convenient for people of different heights and tensioning the lines is smooth—no sticking. A dependable design built to last.

Does exactly what it should — energy saver
After researching options I bought this and it dries clothes well here in Zone 7B. Plenty of space for a day’s garments. I switched to antique-style wooden pins on recommendation and haven’t lost anything. Good solution for cutting energy use.

Almost perfect — well made with a handy latch
High-quality item that justifies the higher price. The ratchet-style opening is very convenient. One possible improvement would be a screw-in ground sleeve similar to an auger for even easier installation.

Excellent quality, thoughtful design, easy install
Everything was fine. Fast delivery and the materials are convincing. After two years of frequent summer use there’s no notable wear, the lines hold up, adjustment works reliably and the ground sleeve still holds its original position.

Very happy — smart details and secure when set
Thrilled with this metal dryer. Mine was tough to get into dry, rocky soil but it’s now secure without concrete and has held heavy towels and sheets well. The arms have guides for the long lines and it includes a zippered cover and an attached wrap to keep lines tidy.

Good on a deck with a proper base — beware tipping
I used it on a deck in an umbrella stand and it tipped when only half-filled, bending two arms. After switching to a deeper-sheath wheeled stand it became stable and easy to roll indoors. I like that it folds and the cover keeps the lines neat.

Heavy-duty feel, nicer than cheaper alternatives
Compared to lighter models I saw in big-box stores, this one is noticeably heavier and sturdier. The line holes have smooth inserts so they won’t chafe the cord, and the pole feels robust. Top and bottom umbrella parts are adjustable and well made.

Worth paying extra for a solid, attractive dryer
This unit is stylish and very usable. I wanted something sturdy and easy to operate after a cheaper line failed. At 5'3" I managed to drive the spear in within 15 minutes—rain softened our clay so I got lucky. No concrete needed and it holds a large load without sagging.
