Bodum Schiuma Battery Handheld Milk Frother
Product description
This Bodum Schiuma handheld milk frother is a battery-powered tool designed to produce foam for café-style beverages at home. The unit has a black plastic body with an ergonomic plastic handle for comfortable grip and a flexible stainless-steel whisk wand that reaches into cups and small pitchers. Operation is straightforward: a single on/off control enables one-handed use so you can froth milk with the press of a button.
The Schiuma is compact and lightweight, sized for handheld convenience and small-batch foaming rather than commercial volumes. It works on two AA batteries, which are required to run the motor (batteries are not supplied). Because it’s small and portable, it’s also handy for blending dressings, mixing powdered supplements, smoothing smoothies or giving small amounts of cream a quick whip.
Cleaning is simple — rinse the whisk under running water after use and wipe the handle as needed. The flexible wand detaches visually from the main grip area and is quick to rinse clean. The model comes in a black plastic finish; there is also a stainless-steel variation available for those preferring metal housing.
Pros
- Powerful motor for a handheld unit
- Lightweight and ergonomic for one-handed use
- Easy to rinse and store
Cons
- Only one high speed available
- On/off switch can feel loose or wobbly
- May have limited lifespan with heavy daily use
VerdictA lightweight, easy-to-use battery frother that delivers quick foam for single cups and small recipes. It’s sturdy, simple to clean and ideal for at-home lattes, though it runs at one high speed and its switch may feel loose to some users. Great for everyday use if you want a no-fuss handheld frother.

Perfect for small servings
Excellent for small batches. Creates nice foam for coffee, hot cocoa or iced lattes and handles small amounts of whipping cream for desserts.

Intermittent power
It cuts in and out occasionally while running, but when it’s working it finishes the job—I use it to help scramble eggs and it works well.

Does the job
Performs as expected. Only complaint is a single, fast speed with no adjustment. It may wobble briefly at startup, but holding it straight settles the motion.

Really pleased with it
Love this frother. My eggs turn out fluffy and it’s very simple to operate. Wasn’t sure at first, now I use it often.

Top handheld option
I’ve owned many frothers and this is the best handheld I’ve used. Strong speed and power—double whisk styles feel unnecessary. Great choice for a true handheld experience.

Handy little frother
Put in two AA cells and it fired up. The top toggle was stiff at first but loosened with use, so now I can run it one-handed. It’s stronger than an older model I had. I rinse the wand under hot water to clean. Tried whipping cream but didn’t get very stiff—likely better with half-and-half. Solid build and works well.

Excellent for frothy milk
Makes foamy milk fast. Battery cover was tough to open initially, but it produces great foam for lattes and steamed oat milk. Compact and stores easily; needs two AA batteries.

Faulty power switch
The on/off switch failed — I have to open the battery cover to turn it off. The switch itself doesn’t work properly.

Strong performance but short-lived
Very effective and froths quickly, but mine stopped working after about two months of daily use. I tried a different, pricier unit afterward that didn’t perform as well.
